TIMSS assesses students’ ability to apply the properties of symmetries, such as distance of matching points from the mirror line, and orientation of figures. Students also need to identify the symmetry of shapes, such as circles, triangles and quadrilaterals.

This unit of work will improve students’ understanding of symmetry across a range of contexts:
