Year 9: Properties, representations, and measurement of 3D shapes

Thanks for visiting NZMaths.
We are preparing to close this site by the end of August 2024. Maths content is still being migrated onto Tāhūrangi, and we will be progressively making enhancements to Tāhūrangi to improve the findability and presentation of content.

In TIMSS students are expected to recognise and apply the properties of 3D shapes, such as the constant cross-section of prisms, to solve problems. Students also  need to represent 3D shapes using 2D drawings, or establish the correctness of a given representation. Measurements required include volume, and surface area.

These units of work will improve students' fluency with the properties and measurement of 3D shapes:

Students will also benefit from working independently or collaboratively on the following student e-ako on the Geometry pathway (information about e-ako maths):

  • G4.30: Exploring views and perspective
