The Ministry is migrating nzmaths content to Tāhurangi.
Relevant and up-to-date teaching resources are being moved to Tāhūrangi (tahurangi.education.govt.nz).
When all identified resources have been successfully moved, this website will close. We expect this to be in June 2024.
e-ako maths, e-ako Pāngarau, and e-ako PLD 360 will continue to be available.

Purpose:

  • To give practice in identifying and hearing numbers that end in ‘teen’ and numbers that end in ‘ty’.

You need:

How to play:

  • This game is played exactly like Bingo.
  • A caller reads the number and if it is on their board the child will cover the number.
  • The one who has all the numbers on their board covered is the winner if they pass the check test.
  • Their numbers need to be checked as they may not have heard them correctly.  For example, if 17 is called they may have covered 70.
  • Give children practise in reading the numbers aloud.

Variations:

  • Play a traditional game of bingo if you have one.
  • Make a 3 x 3 grid and use numbers to 20.
  • Read statements so the children have to cover the answer.  For example, make a set of cards that have statements like 20 + 30 or 7 + 7 or 6 + 6 + 1. They would have to cover 50, 14 and 13 if they had them on their gameboard.
