This week we focus on learning about halves and quarters and we investigate some beginning probability concepts.
This page suggests activities for each day. Click to download a printable PDF to help keep track of progress.
Day 1
Number knowledge
- Go to the activity Cutting cakes and follow the instructions.
Probability activity
- Go to the activity Red Riding Hood and follow the instructions.
Day 2
Number knowledge
- Today we use a similar activity to day one except that we use strips of paper.
- Make strips of paper of various lengths and then cut each one into 2 equal parts (1/2) and then 4 equal parts (1/4).
- Check that they are “equal” parts.
Probability activity
- Go to the activity The gingerbread man and follow the instructions.
Day 3
Number knowledge
- Go to the activity Make a whole and follow the instructions.
Probability activity
- Talk to a family member about what you see as you walk around your neighbourhood.

- Something that you sometimes see
- Something that you never see
- Write the words always, sometimes, never under the pictures.

- something that you never see
- Write the words always, sometimes, never under the pictures.
Day 5
Number knowledge
- Go to Day 4’s activity Before and After 0 -10 and this time follow the instructions for the variation.
Probability activity
- Look at the objects from this At school activity card. Sort them into things that you will see, maybe and never see.
