Prior knowledge.

  • Simplify fractions
  • Convert fractions to decimals
  • Understand the double number line and how to use it proportionately

Background

Note that this strategy is nice when the number is easy to convert to 100. Sometimes it is necesaary to simplify the fraction first, for example 18/24 simplifies to 3/4 and then 75/100. So some discussion is needed about this before setting the activity.
