Save the Whale

The Ministry is migrating nzmaths content to Tāhurangi.
Relevant and up-to-date teaching resources are being moved to Tāhūrangi (tahurangi.education.govt.nz).
When all identified resources have been successfully moved, this website will close. We expect this to be in June 2024.
e-ako maths, e-ako Pāngarau, and e-ako PLD 360 will continue to be available.

Purpose:

You can help your child to learn the addition facts of 10. For example, 6+4=10, 3+7=10.

What to do:

Follow the link below to an online activity.

Work with your child to find the bit of the pipe that will join to the existing pipe to make 10. You could help prompt by asking questions such as:

  • 1 and how many more makes 10?
  • 5 and how many more makes 10?

Help your child to count the squares to work out the length of pipe if they need to. Encourage them to remember the facts as they become more familiar with the numbers.

  • Can you remember which number joins with 2 to make 10?
