Purpose:

This is a level 3 number activity from the Figure It Out series. It relates to Stage 6 of the Number Framework.

FIO, Level 2-3, Basic Facts, Six Shooters, page 26
3 classmates
3 dice
6 counters for each player (different colour for each player)
Activity:

This game involves basic multiplication facts. The use of three dice allows students some choice in manipulating which fact they select. A key point of the game is that as the game progresses and more counters are placed, the number of options decreases.
Once a counter is placed, it cannot be removed, nor can that answer be used by another player. Consider this situation:

She rejects the five to form 4 x 3 = 12, which will give her two counters in the middle triangle. To practise more difficult multiplication facts, the dice can be modified so that they have the numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 on the faces. The triangles should also be modified to become:
