How Many Cubes?

The Ministry is migrating nzmaths content to Tāhurangi.
Relevant and up-to-date teaching resources are being moved to Tāhūrangi (tahurangi.education.govt.nz).
When all identified resources have been successfully moved, this website will close. We expect this to be in June 2024.
e-ako maths, e-ako Pāngarau, and e-ako PLD 360 will continue to be available.

Activity

In pairs each student picks up a handful of cubes and says how many they think are here before counting them. Each student counts the partner’s cubes. Repeat the process. Then each student picks up a handful of cubes and briefly shows the cubes to their partner. The pair discuss who has got more. They check this by lining the cubes up side by side. Discuss how many more in one line than the other.
